Dior had 3 catwalk looks for their SS16 line. For their couture show Peter Phillips created a beautiful velvet skin to compliment his matte red lip, which he described as "the classic lip, with a twist." He achieved this two dimensional lip colour by dabbing Diorific lipstick over the lips and then hit the centre of the lips with a lip crayon in a darker shade.

The second look he created for the SS16 couture show was a strong black eye, lots of liner and lots of lashes.
Keeping the rest of the skin toned down makes the eyes the feature. See the video linked below for backstage secrets and the inspiration behind the two looks.
"Gym Skin" was a huge trend for this spring/summer. A glowing, clean, fresh, not-sweaty-but-sheeny post gym skin look. It works best when the rest of the make up is toned down and the skin is the main focus.
At Gucci the skin was sheeny and plumped in the most perfect way. The brows were left full and precise, The hair straight yet textured and the eyes bright and big.
At Balmain, although the coverage was heavier the base was still fresh and plump. The brows once again like Gucci, were thick and full.
Gym Skin and big brows were also a feature at Salvatore Ferragamo.
As part of their new collection Dior has created two beautiful illuminating powders. These can be used to achieve a glowing skin effect like those seen on catwalks this year. With a subtle base and full lashes the illuminating powder helps to catch the light on the high points of the face.
This powder comes in two colours to suit a pink or golden undertone. Embossed with a beautifully floral motif the product looks just as appealing off the skin as on.
The create the gym skin sheen, this powder would work best used with a damp brush over the top of a cream illuminator such as MAC Strobe Cream. On its own it will create a beautifully highlighted velvet skin, like that seen on the Dior SS16 catwalk. Peter Phillips created velvety skin to coincide his matte red lip.

Dior released a video of Beauty Blogger Hanneli Mustaparta recreating the Glowing Gardens look. This is great advertising as not only Dior fans/followers will see this but also followers for Hanneli. Reaching across two audiences helps to widen Diors audience.

The look she creates in this video is a lot more wearable than that in the advertising. This makes the products more appealable to people as they can see these products in their own makeup routine. It also helps to see the new products in action and their result rather than a picture of their packaging.

The promotional video for the collection really portrays the elegant, floral feel of the entire collection. It is very springlike due to the soft colour pallete and the inclusion of the flower. It showcases all the new products well and stays profoundly Dior.
Peter Phillips, the Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup has created a collection inspired by the backstage products such as the Lip Glow to produce a luminous collection that will help anyone achieve a backstage glow.
Ive chosen the brand Dior. When I think of Dior I think of clean, immaculate skin, statement eyes and a desirable glow. A healthy, natural look that showcases elegance. This is something I love, especially the base. I love to see plumped, healthy glowing skin and love to create it on others.

The first foundation I ever owned was Dior and at the age of 14 didnt appreciate the beauty of not only the packaging but the formula and the excellence of the product. However looking back it was one of the most beautiful products I have owned. The Diorskin Nude Loose Powder not only was packaged luxuriously but had a cooling sensation to the skin on application. This refreshed the skin and gave a luminous look to avoid an over powdery appearance. It was light enough to be suitable to my young skin but enough to cover any blemish I thought I had. The luxury of that foundation is something I still think about years on and so this is why I have chosen to use Dior as my brand.

Christian Dior was born in a seaside town in Normandy, France and moved to Paris at age 5. Christian Dior was always artistically inclined much to his parents dismay, and began selling his sketches on the street during his school years. He opened up a small art gallery after he left school with his fathers money and sold paintings for Pablo Picasso among other names. Unfortunatley due to the Great Depression, the death of his mother and brother and his fathers business going bankrupt, Dior was forced to close his gallery. He went to work for fashion designer Robert Piguet until he was called upon by the army in 1940. At the end of his service in 1942, he and Pierre Balmain began working for Lucien Long as his primary designers.

On February 12 1947, He debuted his first collection. The lines were quickly named the "New Look" a phrase coined by Carmel Snow, US Harpers Bazaar editor. The iconic look consisted of a calf length full skirt, cinched in at the waist, with a fuller bust. His elegant designs conflicted with the grim post war reality of Europe.
Stars such as Rita Heyworth, Ava Gardner Margot Fonteyn helped to rise the profile of the small fashion house, landing Dior a private screening of his new collection to the Royal Family.
