Fake Bleach Brows

A stand out feature on the Catwalks this year were Bleached Brows. sported by the likes of Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne on the stage of Givenchy, the missing brows gave the girls an alien look and this would open up my models eye space making room for me to take the colour on the lid higher than I usually would.

However, I doubt my model would be dedicated enough to the art to allow me to bleach her brows so I need to take another approach. Ive done a quick google search of fake bleach brows and surprisingly a lot more information came up than I expected to.

One tutorial on youtube by NikkiTutorials shows her using Kryolans Aquacolour in Ivory, however this is discontinued and the closet colour I could find was an ivory bone colour in a Ben Nye bruise wheel.  I tested this out in class, brushing it through the brow. First brushing the hairs downwards and then back up to ensure every hair was covered. However, this seemed to be too yellow and almost "sick" coloured, not a nice look on anyone! I also found that in my attempt to cover the hairs to the root my method had been too heavy handed and I had tinted the skin around the brow the same yellow colour. This created a horrible halo around the brow and did not seem natural in any way.

I continued scoping the internet and found an article on intothegloss.com suggesting I mixed concealer with a slight yellow pigment to achieve a fake brow look, but once again this made the brows too much of a standout feature rather than blocked out and blonde.

I went to my tutor and told her my struggle to find the perfect "no-bleach bleaching" method and she suggested a thick, waxy concealer. The kind usually found in a stick form or pot. She also showed me a way of coating the hair without coating the surrounding skin. I tried this out with the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit using the yellow cream highlight shade. These have a waxy texture to them so I thought it would work well. Turned out a lot better than the other methods and because of the formula the brows didnt end up completley matte which I think helped with the natural look of the bleach.
